In 1987, eight young soccer enthusiasts decided it would be a great idea to form a club dedicated to the sport of soccer in Edmonton. Being of Italian origin, the colours and name of Italy’s top soccer team came to mind, hence the name Internazionale and the Blue and Black striped jersey.
The Edmonton Internazionale Soccer Club's debut was the 1987/1988 Indoor season, with three teams participating; U10, U12 and U21 Boys. The U10 team went on to win the Gold medal in Provincials. In the 21 years since, INTER teams have won too numerous to mention medals and Championships.
The Edmonton Internazionale Soccer Club has prospered throughout the years due to the enormous support of its volunteers and members, including the Board of Directors, coaches, players, parents, and families. Bingos and Casinos have provided the bulk of the financial backbone resulting in a healthy financial position for the Club.
The Black and Blue of Inter is recognized across the country and abroad. The name “INTER” has become our trademark within the soccer community in Edmonton and throughout Alberta, and we are extremely proud of our numerous accomplishments including Provincial and National Championships.
INTER history goes further back in the City of Edmonton by another 20 years when the colors where Red and Blue.
Many thanks to the following founding members whose passion for the game and desire to provide an elite soccer environment for Edmontonians has resulted in over 30 years of great memories for hundreds of our youth.
